Ejecter Plate Repair Using Liquid Nitrogen

This ejector plate came from a high-volume injection molding machine that had been in service for many years. Over time, the guide rod bores wore beyond functional limits, threatening production uptime. Rather than replace the unit, our engineering and machining teams designed a cost-effective repair solution that restored the equipment to full performance.

Key project highlights:

  1. Comprehensive onsite assessment of the ejector plate and machine to ensure an accurate repair strategy.

  2. Precision machining of the worn bores on our horizontal boring mill to remove all degradation.

  3. Upgraded lubrication features with the addition of custom grease points not included by the OEM.

  4. Fabrication of custom bushings with integrated grease-path grooves for long-term durability.

  5. Cryogenic installation using liquid nitrogen to shrink-fit the bushings—locking them in place without risk of press-fit damage.
